As of September 25, 2017, macOS 10.13 High Sierra is publicly available for all Mac users to install. Office 2016 for Mac is fully supported on High Sierra. For the best experience, we recommend you update Office to version 15.38 or later.

With the release of macOS 10.15 Catalina,Office 365 for Mac and Office 2019 for Mac support macOS 10.15, 10.14, and 10.13. Moving forward, as new major versions of macOS are made generally available, Microsoft will drop support for the oldest version and support the newest and previous two versions of macOS. Aug 22, 2018  Subscribers who are running 11.12 Sierra or its replacement 11.13 High Sierra in September will get an upgrade from the Office 2016 client to Microsoft Office 2019 for Mac.

1. Microsoft has given some guidance about Office for Mac support on the upcoming MacOS ‘High Sierra’ 10.13. But not without a little encouragement to buy the Office for Mac. High Sierra will be publicly released in the (northern) autumn and some testers will have it already. There will be a public beta release later in June 2017.
2. Mar 10, 2020  The update history information for version 16.16 and earlier also applies to Office 2016 for Mac, which is also a version of Office for Mac that’s available as a one-time purchase. Older versions up to and including 16.16 can be activated with an Office 2016 for Mac volume license.
3. Microsoft has declared in a help report that Office for Mac 2011 won’t be bolstered under macOS 10.13 High Sierra. It doesn’t venture to state the product won’t work, however indicates this. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Lync have not been tried on macOS 10.13 High Sierra, and no formal help for this arrangement will be given.
4. Apple is expected to release High Sierra to customers in September. Microsoft's advice about Office for Mac 2011 wasn't unexpected, since support for the application suite is slated to end Oct. 10, a date Microsoft first stamped on the calendar two years ago, but has not widely publicized since.

In Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, you can click on the Send a Smile icon in the top-right of the app. For Outlook, choose Contact Support from the Help menu.
15.34 and earlier	These versions are not supported on 10.13. In some cases, you may not be able to launch the Office apps. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Lync have not been tested on macOS 10.13 High Sierra, and no formal support for this configuration will be provided.

Since October 10, 2017, Office for Mac 2011* is no longer supported. This means there will be no new security updates, non-security updates, free or paid assisted support options, or technical content updates. Refer to the Microsoft Support Lifecycle for more information.

* Lync for Mac 2011 has a limited time of Extended Support for security fixes.
